Limo robbery in Toronto leads police to Pickering

A woman suffered life-altering injuries after stopping to help a vehicle that had left the roadway, leading to a three-vehicle crash in Beaverton early Thursday morning.

Durham Regional Police say the collision happened around 3 a.m. on Regional Road 23, just north of Thorah Concession Road 2.

The woman had stopped to assist after a Dodge minivan veered off the road. While attempting to help, investigators say, she was struck by a northbound Mazda sedan and pinned against her Dodge pickup truck. The Mazda then collided with the minivan before coming to rest in a ditch.

Air Ornge airlifted the 47-year-old woman to a Toronto-area trauma centre, where she remains in stable condition.

The driver of the Mazda remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

Police are asking anyone with cellphone, dash camera or surveillance footage, or information related to the incident, to contact D/Cst. Latour at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 5226.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Durham Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or online.
