3 teens from Mississauga, Brampton face 56 charges related to pharmacy robberies

Three teenagers from Mississauga and Brampton face dozens of charges in relation to their alleged involvement in a skein of pharmacy robberies.

The teens, who are between 14 and 17 years old and cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, were arrested in Mississauga on Thursday night (June 9). The Peel Regional Police say they were taken into custody during an attempted robbery that night, while they were operating a a stolen blue Toyota Corolla in the area of Eglinton Avenue East and Central Parkway East in the City of Mississauga.

The vehicle has been stolen two days earlier (June 7) in York Region and was identified as being used in a separate pharmacy robbery in Brampton the same day.

“The occupants were donning masks and clothing to conceal their identity,” Peel police said on Friday. “Police intervened and effected the arrest of suspects ahead of a robbery.”

The Peel police allege that the group is involved in other pharmacy robberies that took place throughout the Region of Peel on May 24, June 1, June 2, June 7 and June 9. A total of 56 charges have been laid against the three young persons.

A 14-year-old male from Mississauga has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Attempt to commit an indictable offence (three counts)
  • Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence (seven counts)
  • Use of an imitation firearm (five counts)
  • Robbery (four counts)

A 17-year-old male from Brampton has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Attempt to commit an indictable offence (three counts)
  • Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence (six counts)
  • Use of an imitation firearm (five counts)
  • Robbery (three counts)

A 16-year-old male from Brampton has been charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Attempt to commit an indictable offence (three counts)
  • Wearing a disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence (six counts)
  • Use of an imitation firearm (five counts)
  • Robbery (three counts)

The three suspects had a bail hearing in a Brampton court on Friday.
