Three people died and one person is in critical condition following a crash on a ramp to Hwy. 427 at the Mississauga and Toronto border.

The crash happened on the Hwy. 427 southbound ramp to Dundas Street around 11:30 p.m. yesterday (Feb. 13), says OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt.

Collision investigators say the driver was travelling at “extreme high rates of speed”, Schmidt says.

“The vehicle travelling southbound Hwy. 427 with four occupants in the vehicle, left the ramp, went over the concrete wall, into the ditch where it was then vaulted into a concrete wall on Dundas Street,” says Schmidt.

The vehicle then crashed back onto the ramp where it burst into flames.

Toronto fire crews were able to extricate all four occupants before the vehicle was consumed by fire.

Two people in the back seat of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene. The front seat female passenger died later in hospital.

The male driver remains in hospital with critical life-threatening injuries.

“Obviously we are very concerned about the matter and description of this crash — a very violent collision that took place,” Schmidt adds.

The ramp has reopened.

The investigation is ongoing.

Any witnesses to this incident should contact the Toronto OPP at 416-235-4981.
