McDonalds and grocery store workers in Niagara Region test positive for COVID-19

The recent rise in COVID-19 cases during the fourth wave of the pandemic has included confirmed cases among food workers in Niagara Region.

Three workers have tested positive within last week.

  • A case was reported Sept. 7 at a McDonalds location at 385 Ontario St. in St. Catharines. The employee’s most recent shift was on Aug. 30.
  • On Sept. 4, the Foodland grocery store at 239 St. Catharines St. in Smithville reported a case. The employee’s most recent shift was also on Aug. 30.
  • On Sept. 1, there was a confirmed case at the Food Basics location at 6770 McLeod Rd. S. in Niagara Falls. The employee last worked on Aug. 27.

Many grocery chains and fast-food restaurants have self-disclosed their confirmed cases during the pandemic. In most cases, the stores are deep-cleaned and sanitized afterward.
