$3.5M in drugs, loaded gun found in Mississauga home; man faces numerous charges

A Mississauga man faces numerous weapons and drug charges after police received a tip that led them to an armed suspect and $3.5 million in cocaine and meth at a home in the city’s east end.
Peel Regional Police said in a news release on Thursday they received information on May 31 just before 3 p.m. that indicated a person with a gun was in the area of Ponytrail Drive and Fieldgate Drive, east of Dixie Road and north of Bloor Street.
Responding officers quickly took a man into custody and a search warrant was subsequently executed at a Mississauga home, police said.
As a result of the investigation, police said they recovered 117 kilograms of cocaine and four kilograms of methamphetamines with a total estimated street value of $3.5 million, an unspecified amount of Canadian cash, a loaded .45-calibre Glock handgun and nine rounds of ammunition.
Rashid Al-Hasan, 20, of Mississauga, is charged with:
- point firearm
- disguise with intent
- carry concealed weapon
- utter threat to cause death or bodily harm
- unauthorized possession of firearm
- occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon
- knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized
- possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- possession for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
He was held for a bail hearing and made a first appearance in Brampton court.
