20-year-old woman dead after found by a school in Oakville

Double shooting leaves victim in critical condition, charges laid against Brampton man

A sudden death involving a 20-year-old that happened early this morning in Oakville has been marked as suspicious by police and is being investigated, along with help from the Chief Coroner of Ontario.

Halton Regional Police say a young woman was found in medical distress shortly after 6:30 a.m. outside of Sunningdale Public School located at 1434 Oxford Ave.

The victim was transported to a hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Police have not provided information on the specific nature of the victim’s injuries.

Detectives are probing the circumstances leading to the victim being outside the school and are reviewing video surveillance from the area of Oxford Avenue and Miller Road.

Out of respect for the victim and her family’s wishes, investigators will not disclose her name, residence, or other identification information at this time.

Anyone with information or who may have seen individuals outside Sunningdale Public School from 1:30 am to 6:30 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 20, is asked to contact investigators at the HRPS non-emergency line, 905-825-4777.
