2 sex assaults, attempted kidnapping lead to charges against Mississauga man

A Mississauga man has been charged after two women were sexually assaulted and a teen was nearly abducted in separate incidents in the city’s northeast end dating back to last fall.

The first of the “stranger sexual assaults,” as Peel Regional Police describe the incidents, took place last Oct. 6, a Sunday, when a woman in her 30s was followed by a man on a bicycle before being attacked and sexually assaulted at around 9 p.m. near Monica Drive in Malton.

On March 24 of this year, another woman in her 30s was similarly attacked and sexually assaulted after being followed by a man in a black sedan, police said in a news release on Monday.

That attack took place at about 5 a.m. near Redstone Road and Homeside Gardens, not far from Airport and Derry roads, also in Malton.

Most recently, according to police, a man tried to pull a “female in her late teens” into a black sedan in the area of Redstone and Netherwood roads on April 2 at around 5:30 a.m.

Police made an arrest two days after the third incident, on April 4.

Rick Junior Arson, 26, of Mississauga, is charged with:

• sexual assault — two counts
• utter threats to cause death or bodily harm
• kidnapping with the intent to cause a person to be confined or imprisoned
• assault

After appearing in Brampton court, he was remanded into custody.

During the time of the incidents, Arson was on charge for similar offences that occurred in Timmins, Ontario in April 2023, police said. He has since been convicted of those charges and is awaiting sentencing, police added.
