closure, restaurants, violations, food, stores, business, Ontario.

From local favourites that brought communities together to hidden gems loved by regulars, some cherished spots have served their final meals and closed their doors for good. While you might find a similar place, nothing can truly capture the original’s unique charm.

Here are two restaurants that closed in November:

Sabroso Pita Express

Sabroso Pita Express, previously located at 380 Bovaird Dr. E., announced its closure in early November, marking the end of its storefront operations.

While the restaurant is no longer open, Sabroso is offering catering services for events with 10 or more guests, featuring popular dishes like pita platters, kebabs, salads and hummus.

In a statement on social media, the owners expressed gratitude for the community’s support and shared plans to reopen a new brick-and-mortar location by mid-2025.

Sand Trap Restaurant

The Sand Trap Restaurant at Banty’s Roost Golf Club, located at 12600 Bramalea Rd., has been temporarily shut down in Caledon after failing a health inspection on Nov. 22.

Peel Public Health reported two violations: a lack of potable hot and cold running water under pressure and failure to keep food premises free from conditions posing a health hazard.

The region conducts regular inspections of food establishments, childcare facilities and recreational spaces, with outcomes ranging from Green Cards for compliance to Red Cards, which can result in temporary closures.

While the Sand Trap restaurant closure is not permanent, no reopening date has been set.
