Two people were charged with stunt driving in Mississauga yesterday.

In the first instance, a car was clocked doing 96 km/hr in a 50 km/hr zone on Derry Road East at Cattrick Street in Mississauga, Peel Regional Police said in a tweet early today (May 5).

A 22-year-old driver from Oshawa was charged with stunt driving and speeding.

The driver faces a 14-day vehicle impoundment and 30-day driver’s licence suspension.

And last night, another vehicle was caught travelling 104 km/hr in a 60 km/hr zone at Creditview Road and Britannia Road West, police said.

This driver also faces a 14-day vehicle impoundment and 30-day driver’s licence suspension.

The charges come as Mississauga pushes for beefed-up police enforcement in efforts to put the brakes on overnight street racing and stunt driving in mall parking lots and industrial areas across the city and the region.
