Two new long-term care homes are set to open next week in Mississauga.

Wellbrook Place, two “state-of-the-art” long-term care homes at 2180 Speakman Dr. in Mississauga will officially begin welcoming residents on Nov. 7, according to a press release from Partners Community Health which will operate the homes.

Wellbrook Place brings 632 much-needed new long-term care beds to the city, the press release notes. The province estimates the population of seniors is set to triple by the year 2040 in Mississauga.

Wellbrook Place was built by Trillium Health Partners in partnership with Infrastructure Ontario and the Ministry of Long-Term Care.

“These new state-of-the-art homes will connect more seniors in Mississauga to the 24/7 care they need close to their loved ones and close to their communities for generations to come,” said Premier Doug Ford in the press release.

Wellbrook Place was completed under the Ontario Government’s Accelerated Build Pilot program, announced at the onset of the pandemic, and was also built quickly thanks to a donation from Gerry Beasley.

Wellbrook Place will be part of a “seniors’campus of care” that will include Mississauga’s first residential 12-bed hospice, operated by Heart House Hospice, a Health Services Building, and a Dialysis Centre, that will be operated by Trillium Health Partners in early 2024.

It’s hoped the campus will help avoid unplanned hospitalization of seniors and help them receive the right care where they live.
