2 in hospital after transport truck hit-and-run on Highway 401 in Milton

Police are searching for the driver of a white transport truck that hit a vehicle on Highway 401 in Milton early Saturday morning before fleeing the scene, sending two people to hospital with unknown injuries.

The OPP said in a social media post around 8:30 a.m. that the crash happened just after 5 a.m. on westbound Highway 401 between James Snow Parkway and Highway 25.

Police shared a photo of the car involved in the collision. The heavily damaged silver Toyota Corolla can be seen resting against a concrete barrier. The vehicle’s right side is crushed inward, with the rear passenger door nearly torn off. The roof is partially collapsed, debris is scattered across the road and the back windshield is shattered. The trunk remains intact but is visibly dented.

Officers said two people were taken to hospital but did not provide details on their injuries or whether they were males or females, their ages, or their places of residence.

Police are asking any witnesses to come forward and contact them at 905-858-8670. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
