A globally recognized bubble tea brand and a popular Korean street food chain are set to open under one roof in Oshawa, bringing a mix of handcrafted drinks and viral-style eats to a busy north-end plaza.
Gong Cha, an international tea franchise founded in Taiwan, and Arirang Hotdog, a Korean-style corn dog chain, are preparing to launch a shared concept in the Windfields area, located in the plaza near Simcoe St. N. and Windfields Farm Dr., next to Domino’s Pizza.
Gong Cha has grown into one of the fastest-expanding tea brands globally, with more than 1,650 locations across 20 countries. The brand is known for its focus on quality tea, offering black, green, oolong and Earl Grey varieties brewed from loose-leaf leaves using precise temperatures and timing.
The menu includes a range of customizable drinks such as milk teas, fruit teas and specialty beverages, paired with toppings like tapioca pearls and flavoured jellies. To maintain freshness, new batches of tea and pearls are brewed every four hours.
Arirang Hotdog, founded in South Korea in 2014, is known for its Korean-style corn dogs with creative coatings and toppings. The brand has expanded internationally, with more than 500 locations worldwide and several across Ontario.
Menu items include signature corn dogs such as the original sausage, potato-coated options and poutine-style variations served with cheese curds and gravy. Additional offerings include chicken nuggets in flavours like honey garlic and sweet chili, cheese balls, fries and soft drinks.
The Oshawa location will join several existing Arirang Hotdog locations in Ontario, including Mississauga, Milton and Toronto.
An official opening date has not yet been announced.
