Two men from Hamilton have been arrested and charged with murder, after the kidnapping of Faqir Ali and the killing of his son Hasnain (Nano) Ali in a home invasion in Mount Hope nearly one year ago.

Early on Sept. 16, 2021, responding officers were called to a residence in the south Hamilton community after reports of a home invasion. They found two men in their 20s who had been shot. A third man, the then 63-year-old Faqir Ali was forcibly taken from the home in a dark SUV.

The two younger men were rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. One of them, Hasnain Ali, died of his injuries.

The elder Ali (pictured, top) was violently assaulted and eventually found near Beach Blvd. in Hamilton.

Hamilton Police (HPS) say they have continued to investigate, and their homicide unit arrested 25-year-old John Bartley and 35-year-old Gino McCall of Hamilton “without incident” yesterday (Aug. 31). They will make brief court appearances today (Sept. 1)

The pair are each charged with first-degree murder in the death of Hasnain (Nano) Ali, as well as attempted murder, kidnapping and aggravated assault in relation to the incident last year.

“The investigation remains ongoing,” HPS said today.
