The three people who died in an overnight crash in Milton, Ontario have been identified by police.

Halton Regional Police say the two-vehicle collision happened on Sixth Line at Derry Road around 3 a.m.

Investigators have stated that the fatalities included an 18-year-old man from Milton and a 16-year-old girl from Brampton, travelling in one vehicle and a 26-year-old man from Milton in another vehicle.

Authorities have not disclosed additional information about the victims, such as their names and have yet to confirm the cause of the crash.

Derry Road at Sixth Line was closed for several hours for police investigations. Drivers who were travelling east from Milton had to take a detour at James Snow Parkway.

As of this afternoon, police say all lane restrictions have been lifted and roads are now open.
