15-year-old dirt bike rider dies after crash in southern Ontario

A 16-year-old dirt bike rider has died after a collision in southern Ontario on Tuesday, police say.

Ontario Provincial Police said that at 4:44 p.m., emergency services responded to Denfield Road between Airport Drive and Elginfield Road (Highway 7) in the Township of Lucan Biddulph.

That’s north of London.

The collision involved an SUV and a dirt bike.

The rider of the bike, a 16-year-old resident of Lucan Biddulph, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The teen was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police initially said the rider was 15 years old, but later corrected that to 16.

The driver of the SUV was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

OPP officers, Middlesex-London paramedics, local firefighters, and Air Ornge responded to the crash.

Police didn’t say what may have been the cause.
