16-year-old arrested in attempted murder case in Brampton

Police have charged a 16-year-old in connection with an attempted murder in Brampton.

The incident dates back to Aug. 23 when police responded to a report of a stabbing in a mall near Queen Street and Dixie Road in Brampton, Peel Regional Police said in a press release.

A youth was found with multiple stab wounds and transported to hospital. His injuries were considered serious yet non-life threatening.

Police said there were reports of an altercation between a youth and the victim before the stabbing. The youth fled the area.

The suspect and the victim are known to each other, police said.

Police obtained a search warrant for a Brampton home and arrested a 16-year-old male suspect on Oct. 17. He was charged with attempted murder. The youth cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He was held pending a bail hearing and appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.
