A dump truck that was filled with chicken carcasses baked up a recipe for road closure today (August 7) in Grimsby when about 150 of them spilled out of the truck.

Niagara Police had to close down Park Rd. South between Ridge Rd. and Bell Ave. for 90 minutes for clean-up just past noon.

While details are still sketchy, one resident suggested the reason the dump truck was loaded with chicken carcasses in the first place was that “a farm up the road lost his whole crop of chickens – 75,000 due to heat. The dump (truck) was cleaning up.”

The 25-year-old Brampton driver was charged with insecure load.

The Ministry of Transportation’s commercial enforcement unit is investigating.
