Durham Police have arrested youths – the youngest just 12-years-old – after they were seen carrying guns in the Oshawa Centre shopping centre Wednesday evening.
Police responded to an armed person call at the Oshawa Centre just before 8 p.m. Wednesday after security spotted three youths with concealed handguns.
Members of the Tactical Support Unit, with the assistance of front-line officers, found the suspects and took them into custody without incident. A search of the youths found two concealed imitation firearms.
The three pubescent suspects, aged, 12, 13 and 14, were arrested but subsequently released unconditionally to their parents.
They were also issued formal trespass notices banning them from the Oshawa Centre.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Central East Division Criminal Investigations Branch at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1705.
