Starting today (May 1) and running through May 7, a dozen different Niagara Region charities are about to reap the benefits of residents’ sweet toothes.

The Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign, held annually, sees 100 per cent of every $1.50 per cookie go directly to local charities.

Rather than one specific charity Niagara-wide, each of the communities has their own targeted beneficiary so that cookie dough are getting spread far and wide.

In Fort Erie, funds will benefit Hospice Niagara’s Fort Erie Site while Grimsby is sending their cash to the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation.

In St. Catharines, Thorold and Niagara-on-the-Lake, it will be split between two St. Catharines’ charities that benefit the region – the Pathstone Foundation and Hotel Dieu Shaver Health and Rehabilitation Foundation.

In Pelham, the cash will go to Wellspring Niagara while over in Niagara Falls, it will help both Project Share and the GROW Community Food Literacy Centre.

In Lincoln, the Rose Cottage Community Hospice will be the recipient while in Port Colborne, cookie cash will help Meals on Wheels Port Colborne.

In West Lincoln, the West Lincoln Community Care is targeted while in Welland, Hospice Niagara will be the recipient.
