11-year-old cyclist killed in school bus collision in an Ontario town

An 11-year-old cyclist was struck and killed by a school bus in Ontario.

Emergency crews responded to the collision involving a school bus and a cyclist on St. Joseph Street in Clarence-Rockland, Ontario yesterday (May 13) around 3:30 p.m., OPP said in a press release today. Clarence-Rockland is a small community located east of Ottawa.

The cyclist, an 11-year-old child, was pronounced dead, police said. The bus driver was uninjured.

The section of St Joseph Street near the collision site was closed for approximately six hours.

The collision remains under investigation with assistance from an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and the OPP Technical Collision Investigation Team.
