100km winds coming to Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and Durham Region

Special weather statement in effect in southern Ontario packing 70 km winds

Hold on to your hats as it’s going to be a windy one in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Halton, Niagara and Durham Region.

There is a  wind warning in effect for:

  • Mississauga
  • Brampton
  • Hamilton
  • Burlington
  • Oakville
  • Caledon
  • Halton Hills
  • Milton
  • Niagara Region
  • Durham Region

Very strong winds are expected Sunday starting in the morning and going through to the afternoon.

The wind gusts will be near 90 km/h and localized gusts in excess of 100 km/h are possible.

Niagara region can see localized gusts in excess of 110 km/h are possible.

There is a possibility of  widespread power outages may occur.

Strong southwest winds will develop Sunday morning or early afternoon ahead of a cold front moving through southern Ontario. Isolated thunderstorms are possible along this cold front, which may bring localized wind gusts in excess of 100 km/h. Winds will gradually ease on Sunday evening.

Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.
