A Brampton man couldn’t believe his eyes and checked a winning $100,000 lottery ticket at two different stores to make sure it was real.
Clive Scott has been playing OLG games for over a decade, often buying Lotto Max and Lotto 6/49 tickets using the Quick Pick feature.
The 75-year-old always adds an Encore play to his tickets, which landed him a $100,000 win in the Aug. 22 Lotto Max draw.
Scott matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the correct order.
“I used the ticket checker at the store and found out I won. I was quite excited, but I thought to myself, ‘Is this real? Am I dreaming? Are my eyes playing tricks on me?’ I couldn’t believe it,” he said while picking up his winnings in Toronto.
He then took his ticket to another location and checked it again, just to be sure.
“I was in complete disbelief and began to shake,” he said. “I told my wife about the win, and she was just over the moon. It still feels so unreal.”
Scott said the win is “a dream come true,” and plans to save and invest the winnings.
Encore offers 22 ways to win, and can be played along with most lottery games for an extra $1. The OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.
The winning ticket was purchased at Circle K on Queen Street East in Brampton.
