$100,000 lotto prize goes to Brampton resident playing since the 80s

A Brampton resident who’s been playing the lottery for several decades has recently won a huge lotto prize of $100,000.

OLG congratulated 63-year-old Gerard Kinch for matching the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the December 12, 2023 Lotto Max draw.

“I am pleasantly surprised. This win definitely helps out,” said Kinch, a regular lottery player since the 80s.

He shared the news with a friend and they scanned the ticket together on the OLG app.

“He said, ‘Wow, you won $1,000!’ and I said, ‘Check again!’ He was so happy for me when he realized it was actually $100,000,” Kinch said.

He plans to put the money towards purchasing a car, new glasses, and some nice steaks for his dogs.

The winning ticket was purchased at Avo Convenience on Sandalwood Parkway in Brampton.

OLG says it supports safe play and responsible gambling through its PlaySmart program.
