10 charged in an Elliot Lake drug bust including a Mississauga resident

A Mississauga resident is among 10 people facing charges in an Elliot Lake drug bust.

Police searched a home on Hillside Drive South in Elliot Lake around 9:30 p.m. on Nov. 21, OPP said in a press release.

Officers found stolen items linked to thefts from retail stores in Elliot Lake, approximately $7,000 in cash, over 12 grams of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, and crystal meth, as well as digital scales, debt lists, packaging material, and cell phones, OPP said.

In total, ten people were arrested and charged, police said. Three had warrants out for their arrest and one was breaching prior release conditions.

Seven Elliot Lake residents, one person from Spanish, Ontario and another from Huron Shores face charges in connection with the search, police said.

And Orlando Samuels, 40, of Mississauga, was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; possession of an opioid for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5.000.

Samuels is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on Jan. 11, 2024.
