Like most big lottery winners, Bart Rason says at first he didn’t believe his good fortune.

However, unlike most people who’ve just won $1 million playing the lottery, the 60-year-old Mississauga man says he was perfectly calm.

Rason won his big prize playing the Gold Ball Draw on his Oct. 8, 2022 Lotto 6/49 ticket.

The Mississauga handyman said when he scanned his ticket on the OLG App and saw that he won $1 million, he assumed he wasn’t seeing things correctly.

“I scanned it a few more times and then realized that I wasn’t imagining things. I was calm, but grateful,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up his windfall. “I called my wife over from the other room and asked her if she was seeing what I was seeing.”

Rason plans to put his winnings directly into the bank for now.

“I will take my time to decide what to do with this win. I will be careful how I spend or invest this in the future. I am so thankful for this win,” he said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Q Market, on Rathburn Rd. in Mississauga.
