Arrests made after 94-year-old Hamilton man gave 'all he had' to scammers

Authorities in Hamilton are “working diligently” to identify a male who became the 23rd traffic fatality this year in Hamilton.

The single-vehicle crash occurred just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday on Centre Rd. in Flamborough, near Concessions 11 E. and 12 E. Hamilton Police (HPS) say two individuals were in the car when the vehicle lost control, left the roadway and struck a hydro pole just south of Mountsberg Conservation Area.

“When the vehicle came to rest it became engulfed in flames,” HPS said in a release later Thursday.

Hamilton Parademics assisted with life-saving measures and one male occupant of the car was rushed to hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition. The second male was pronounced deceased at the scene of the collision.

“Investigators are still working diligently to establish the identity of the two males involved,” HPS added.

The police’s automated Twitter feed shows that Centre Rd. was closed between Concessions 11E and 12E until 1:45 p.m. on Thursday.

Anyone who has information that may assist with the police investigation into this fatal crash may contact the HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit (905-546-4753).

Information may also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8477; crimestoppershamilton.com).
