$1.2M in cocaine seized on flight that arrived at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga

A traveller who arrived at Toronto Pearson Airport in Mississauga on a flight from the Caribbean earlier this month was arrested and charged after customs officers found $1.2 million in suspected cocaine hidden inside luggage.

Canada Border Services Agency officers said more than 10 kilograms of a drug believed to be cocaine was seized on March 1 at Canada’s biggest and busiest airport. They didn’t say where, specifically, in the Caribbean the flight originated.

The agency said both the traveller and drugs were turned over to the RCMP.

Border services officials said it’s crucial to keep dangerous drugs from entering the country.

“That’s more than $1.2 million worth of harmful drugs kept out of our communities,” the agency said in a post to social media.
