This year, the Civic Holiday in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills falls on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023.

Here’s what will be open and closed in Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills this long weekend:

Open:

  • Local parks and certain outdoor recreational amenities
  • Most Shoppers Drug Marts, but call ahead to be sure
  • Most restaurants will be open for dining, takeout and delivery, but make sure to call ahead
  • Most grocery stores, including Rabba grocery stores, but call ahead to be sure
  • The following Beer Stores from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Burlington: 2025 Guelph Line and 5051 New St.
    • Oakville: 290 Hays Blvd. 
    • Georgetown: 236 Guelph St.
    • Milton: 1071 Maple Ave.
  • In Milton, Rotary Outdoor Pool, 100 Garden Lane
  • Burlington’s nine splash pads, as well as Nelson Pool and Splash Park, Mountainside Pool and Splash Park, and LaSalle Wading Pool and Splash Park
  • Conservation Halton Parks: Crawford Lake, Hilton Falls, Kelso, Mount Nemo, Mountsberg, Rattlesnake Point
  • Terra Cotta Conservation Area in Halton Hills
  • Some Starbucks (hours may vary at different locations)
  • Wine Rack stores in Oakville and Milton
  • Toronto Premium Outlets
  • Milton Mall (noon – 5 p.m.)
  • Burlington Centre (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.)
  • Mapleview Mall (modified hours)
  • Oakville Place (10 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
  • Other major malls that are open:
    – Square One (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
    – Bramalea City Centre (11 a.m. – 6 p.m.)
    – Vaughan Mills (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)
    – Eaton Centre (11 a.m. – 7 p.m.)

Closed:

  • Banks
  • City/Town halls
  • Most Halton Region offices and services, although all 24-hour/essential services remain open
  • Most community centres, seniors’ centres, pools, arenas and libraries
  • Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts
  • Mattamy National Cycling Centre
  • Parking garage at 300 Church Street
  • Oakville Museum

Transit:

  • Oakville Transit will run on a Sunday schedule (8 a.m. – 8 p.m.)
  • Burlington Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule
  • Milton Transit will not operate
  • GO Transit will run on a Saturday schedule

Garbage:

No garbage pick up Monday, Aug. 7 (all waste collection will be one day later than usual)
