Get ready for some hot, muggy weather. A weather statement has been issued for hot and humid conditions expected Tuesday (May 25) in Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Milton.

Maximum temperatures near 31 degrees Celsius are expected on Tuesday — and night won’t provide much relief, with an overnight minimum temperature near 20 degrees Celsius.

Cooler temperatures are expected Wednesday.

“These conditions pose a health risk when you are not used to the heat,” Environment Canada warns.

“Everyone is at risk from heat, especially older adults, infants and young children, and people with chronic illnesses.”

Residents are advised to stay cool by drinking plenty of cool liquids, dressing lightly, and spending at least a few hours a day in a cool place.
