This past weekend, volunteers gathered to help plant over 100 plants and shrubs by the Milton Sports Centre.

The initiative was meant to help diversify the plant species in the detention pond on the north side of the Milton Sports Centre.

Following the event, the Town described the planting day as a “huge success.”

Last month, in recognition of Earth Day, the Town announced it would be planting 600 potted trees throughout the spring with their environmental partners Sustainable Milton and Conservation Halton.

Additionally, the Town announced it would be planting a total of 731 trees in streetscapes and parks.

The Town has also organized local cleanups to further protect the environment and keep outdoor spaces safe and clean.

“Every one of us needs a healthy earth to support our livelihoods, health and happiness. A healthy planet is not an option — it is a necessity,” reads the Town’s website.
