VIDEO: Car fire blocks lane on highway in Mississauga

Traffic is slowed after a car caught fire on a busy Mississauga highway on Tuesday evening.

Traffic cameras and a driver captured video footage of the blaze on Highway 403 in the westbound carpool lane shortly after 6:15 p.m.

A video obtained by INsauga.com shows westbound traffic backed up as a large plume of smoke and flames can be seen jutting from the vehicle.

A spokesperson with Peel Paramedic Services says an ambulance was not dispatched to the scene. Police and firefighters were not immediately available for comment.

Drivers should avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.
