Milton isn’t exactly Hollywood North, but a surprising number of major TV shows have been shot here. Here are the top 5 TV shows that have been shot in town in no particular order, as well as a few bonus shows which were shot here once upon a time. 


Saving Hope

Where: Much of the series’ shoots in town were filmed in downtown Milton along Main St. within the last few years.

Show Synopsis: Surgeon Alex Reid finds herself in a state of shock when her charismatic fiance — Chief of Surgery Charlie Harris — ends up in a coma. While she and a surgeon, who has just arrived at Toronto’s Hope-Zion Hospital, work to save Dr. Harris’ life, the patient takes leave of his body and begins wandering the hospital in spirit form.

Terrific Trucks

Where: Rural areas such as Appleby Line and Steeles Ave. in 2016.

Show Synopsis:  “Terrific Trucks” follows five live action truck friends with big personalities. Tork (the dump truck), Dug (the digger), Sparky (the front end loader), Stotz (the semi) and Blinker (the scooper) take on big jobs each day in a fun, exciting and immersive environment that showcases the trucks in a close up style. Whether they are crushing cars, digging a foundation, or tearing down a barn, important lessons are shared as the trucks overcome obstacles on projects to get the job done – proving nothing is too tough for Terrific Trucks when they work together. The preschool series has celebrity parents Kristen Bell (of Forgetting Sarah Marshall fame) and Dax Shepard lend their voices.

Nikita



Where: From Kosovo to Luxembourg to Milton to Mississauga — some parts of Nikita were filmed right here in town, mostly in rural areas.

Show Synopsis: Maggie Q stars as Nikita, a young woman who was rescued from death row by a secret government agency known as Division. Division faked Nikita’s execution, giving her a chance to start a new life and serve her country.

Anne of Green Gables

Where: Around Town Hall in 2015-2016.

Show Synopsis: A retelling of L.M. Montgomery’s story of Anne Shirley, an orphan who is accidentally sent to a couple looking to adopt a boy instead. Ella Ballentine plays the iconic Anne, while Matthew Cuthbert is played by Martin Sheen.

Holmes on Homes

Where: Different streets in urban areas in 2010.

Show Synopsis:  It’s “buyer beware” when a homeowner contracts a home repair or renovation. The world is full of shady contractors who take shortcuts, use shoddy building practices or employ a band-aid approach to repair work, often leaving homeowners in dangerous situations or out a ton of money. Renovation expert Mike Holmes believes in doing a job right the first time and is making it his mission to expose poor, substandard workmanship in the building industry with his internationally successful show Holmes on Homes. In each episode, Mike rescues homeowners from repair and renovation disasters. Uncovering problems from plumbing and electrical to carpentry and roofing, he shows how the botched job should have been completed, fixing each project properly and helping homeowners make more informed decisions in the future.
