Hasta la vista, baby! Did you know the Terminator was in Mississauga and Oakville filming a Netflix series?

Well, it may have not exactly been the cyborg assassin disguised as a human, but movie star Arnold  Schwarzenneger definitely dropped in to the Greater Toronto Area to film key parts of Fubar, his long-anticipated series debut.

The new action-comedy series, which also stars Monica Barbaro, Milan Carter, Gabriel Luna, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle and Jay Baruchel, features Schwarzenneger as Luke Brunner.

Brunner and his daughter Emma have lied to each other for years, with neither of them knowing that the other is a CIA operative.

Upon learning the truth, they discover they don’t actually know anything about each other.

The series, which just went live on Netflix in Your Neighbourhood, was filmed at several key locations in Mississauga and Oakville, including Sherwood Village (formerly the Sheridan Centre) and Colossus Greek Taverna, which now have their own dedicated pages on the site.

Locations in Oakville, Mississauga, Scarborough and Toronto stood in for locales in Greece, Belgium, Kazakhstan, Moldova and more in this high-octane action comedy.

“The Canadian crew was outstanding,” Schwarzenneger told Netflix. “From the stunt crew to the makeup, special effects, camera operators and directors, everything was really first class, 100 per cent.

“We’ve gained tremendous respect for the Canadians.”

Baruchel, who was born in nearby Ottawa, knows the area well.

“You can’t beat Toronto in the summertime,” he said.

Barbaro loved living in the Trinity-Bellwoods area of Toronto.

“(I) just loved the park there whenever I had the time to go out,” she said.

Created by Netflix, the site gives fans both local and from around the world the opportunity to find and explore some of the Canadian filming locations for many of Netflix’s most popular films and series.

Fans who visit Netflix In Your Neighbourhood can search by film or series title, or by province to discover local businesses and tourist destinations that are featured in their favourite Netflix productions.

Season 1 of Fubar features 10 episodes.
