Transportation, development and infrastructure are top of mind of Milton residents.

This according to the first Citizen Engagement Survey conducted by the Town of Milton.

The survey, taken last fall, will help ensure that Town goals and objectives reflect the needs and priorities of residents.

According to a Town spokesperson, a random telephone survey contacted a statistically significant sample of residents for their confidential, anonymous, and voluntary responses.

Results were weighted by age, gender and household income to reflect the Town’s demographics in the 2021 Census data.

“We thank all of the Milton residents who shared their time and thoughts with us on our first Citizen Engagement Survey,” said Andrew Siltala, Milton’s CAO.

“We will put these results to good use. The survey will help inform Council as they make decisions and identify our next set of strategic priorities.”

According to the survey, 48 per cent of residents have transportation on the top of their minds. Development and infrastructure was named by 28 per cent of people and economic issues like affordable housing by 16 per cent.

Residents like the small-town feel and friendliness, along with things like nature trails, parks, festivals and events.

Town services got the thumbs up and believe they get good value for their tax dollars.

Forum Research Inc. conducted the survey and analysis on behalf of the Town of Milton, ensuring responses were strictly confidential, anonymous, and voluntary.
