Several locations in Oakville have free rapid antigen tests available

Starting today (Feb. 9), Oakville residents looking for a free COVID-19 rapid antigen test will have plenty of locations to find one in town.
The province is distributing 5.5 million rapid antigen tests each week for eight weeks through 2,300 participating pharmacy and grocery locations.
Provincial PCR testing limits have been overwhelmed due to the Omicron wave of the pandemic and access to the tests that confirm a diagnosis have been limited.
The Ontario government will provide the tests while supplies last, with a limit of one box of five tests per household.
“As we continue to carefully ease public health measures, rapid tests are providing another layer of protection and offer the public an additional tool to confidently do the things they love, like visiting family or dining at their favourite local restaurant,” said Christine Elliott, Deputy Premier of Ontario and Minister of Health.
Participating retailers will receive additional supply each week and have the ability to determine how tests are distributed in order to best serve the community, including through appointment bookings, at checkout or through online orders.

If your participating location is out of stock, please check back with them. The province intends to bring additional locations online in the coming weeks, including independent grocers and pharmacies.
