Conservation Halton is encouraging residents to join an organization that is raising awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Womxn and Girls, 2Spirit and Trans (MMIWGT2S) at Crawford Lake in Milton.

The organization, called Grandmothers Voice, is a group of Indigenous people that create a safe and secure community while providing education and understanding of Indigenous cultures and practices.

According to their website, their goal is “to remind the people that balance, personal and professional growth is important in moving towards the healing of our Nations.”

Every weekend from now until Nov. 25, Grandmothers Voice will be at Crawford Lake to raise awareness for MMIWGT2S. As a result, visitors are being encouraged to tie a piece of red cloth around one of the trees at the park or in their community, “in remembrance, reflection and solidarity.”
