One dollar investment leads to spa days for Burlington prize winner

A Burlington woman plans to spend a few days at the spa after winning $100,000 on Lotto 6/49.
Marelena Gruenwald, 49, matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the Jan. 4 draw to claim her prize.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw $100,000. I was in disbelief – especially because I won on the $1 Encore,” she said about watching her ticket being scanned at the store and then realizing she was a winner. “It was a very exciting experience.”
Gruenwald said she has plenty of plans for her windfall.
“I’m going to purchase some new furniture, travel to Canada’s east coast, and make some thoughtful investments,” she said. “I will also treat myself to some spa days, which I will thoroughly enjoy!”
The winning ticket was purchased at L&I Variety on Guelph Line in Burlington.
