One dead, three injured in Oshawa fire  

Emergency crews remain on the scene of a fire that has claimed the life of a youth and sent two others to hospital.

Durham Regional Police say the fire broke out this afternoon (Oct. 18) in a camper trailer on Elgin Street West near Nipigon Street and Park Road North.

The young person was pronounced dead at the scene, and two adults were taken to the hospital. They are being treated for smoke inhalation and third-degree burns.

An Oshawa firefighter was also injured fighting the blaze but only required treatment at the scene.

The fire has been brought under control, but crews remain on the scene for clean-up and to continue their investigation.

Elgin between Nipigon and Park is closed to traffic, and police say it is expected to remain that way for several hours.
