Oakville man charged with impaired driving in crash that killed woman and her dog

An Oakville man has been charged with impaired driving following a single-car collision that killed a woman and her dog in the city Thursday afternoon (Dec. 3).

Halton Regional Police responded to reports of a pedestrian struck by a car the area of Lakeshore Road E and Burgundy Drive in the Town of Oakville just after 2 p.m on Thursday.

Emergency services responded to the scene as well but the 51-year-old woman and her dog were pronounced dead.

Collision reconstruction determined that the car, which was travelling eastbound on Lakeshore, left the roadway and hit the woman, who was walking her dog on a path on the south side of Lakeshore.

A 58-year-old Oakville resident has been arrested and charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
