Oakville Man Charged After Being Found With Over 400 Pounds of Cannabis During Traffic Stop

An Oakville man is facing serious charges after a traffic stop by OPP found over 400 pounds of cannabis over the weekend.

An Oakville man is facing serious charges after a traffic stop by OPP found over 400 pounds of cannabis over the weekend.

On Saturday, September 14, around 2 pm, OPP officers conducted a traffic stop on a white van after receiving a call from a regarding a possible impaired driver that just left the Port Hope area heading eastbound on Highway 401.

Officers found and stopped the vehicle just east Cobourg.

Officers suspected that the vehicle’s passengers were involved in the trafficking of illicit drugs.

During the investigation, officers seized 426 pounds of marijuana which has a street value of approximately $1.9 million, police stated in a release.

Kiryl Andrushkevich, 26, of Oakville, and Damaris Nataren Ortega, 32, of Toronto are facing multiple drug and trafficking charges, including:

  • Possession of over 30g of dried cannabis in a public place.
  • Possession of illicit cannabis.
  • Possess, produce, sell distribute or import anything with the intention to use it to produce.
  • Sell or distribute illicit cannabis.
  • Possession for the purpose of distributing

Andrushkevich has also been charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.

Ortega was also charged with having care or control of a vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.
