Drivers in Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills will be paying less at the pumps this holiday weekend.

Gas prices could fall as much as seven cents to $1.95 on Canada Day in Halton Region and most of Ontario.

A large part of that is the promised tax break from the provincial government that will see a reduction of 5.7 cents per litre in gas tax for six months, beginning Friday.

The regular provincial gas tax rate of 14.7 cents per litre will fall to 9 cents.

You might want to hang on though before filling up that gas tank on Thursday.

While gas prices fell two cents on Wednesday, they are expected to climb four cents to $2.04.9 in Halton and most of Ontario on Thursday according to Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague.
