No charges have been laid against a police officer following a cruiser crash in the Town of Milton.

On the evening of Sept. 1, 2021, a Halton Regional Police officer was travelling on Steeles Ave. when his cruiser collided with another vehicle driven by a 19-year-old man.

According to police, he was then taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken pelvis and a fractured ear.

Joseph Martino, the Director of the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), has found “no reasonable grounds” to believe that the subject official committed a criminal offence in connection with the man’s injury.

Additionally, according to Director Martino, there is no basis for proceeding with criminal charges in this case and the file has been closed.
