Owais Jaleel, a daytrader in another lifetime and Aoun Ali, formerly in the retail sector, have known one another for over twenty five years. Both new to the resto scene, and residents of Mississauga, they took over Zaytoun Grill located in downtown Mississauga and turned it into Haze Lounge (more commonly known as “Haze”).

Concept: A shisha lounge that offers a full service Halal menu. The resto lounge does not serve alcohol however they do serve mocktails and a variety of signature shisha blends. “The whole culture behind shisha is it’s one of those things that bring people together, so it encourages community, it encourages people to socialize and gives people another reason to get together”, says Owais Jaleel. The shishas you will find at Haze are imported from Egypt, a premium brand called Khalil Mamoon which is one of the best designed shishas in the market.

Shisha Defined: Shisha is also known as a hookah, water pipe, narghile, and hubble-bubble and is used to smoke flavoured tobacco or flavoured molasses. It originated in the Middle East over 500 years ago. The caterpillar in Alice in Wonderland was also known as the Hookah Smoking Caterpillar and it was one of the first appearances of a hookah.

Signature Shisha: Haze has 6 in-house shisha blends with the Spartan being the most popular. The Spartan is a unique blend of three individual flavours, ideal for first timers to the shisha world. The blends are tobacco free and made with flavoured molasses. You can even upgrade your shisha with add-ons such as a pineapple head, watermelon head, or an orange head for extra juice. The fruit addition sits on top of the shisha which infuses the flavour with the fresh fruit juice.

Up and Coming: The patio will open as soon as the weather warms up. A brunch menu and a catering menu are on the way.

Seats: Interior: 95; Exterior: 60
