Mississauga, Brampton, Halton Region brace for high winds expected today

A special weather statement has been issued for Peel and Halton Regions as a cold front moving through southern Ontario Wednesday (Jan. 5) is expected to bring high winds.

According to Environment Canada, parts of Burlington, Oakville, Milton, Halton Hills, Brampton, Caledon and Mississauga could see strong winds gusting between 70 and 80 km/h Wednesday afternoon into the evening.

The weather agency warns that power outages may occur and high winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
