A Milton intersection is currently closed for a police investigation after a car crashed into a ravine.

Police say they located a vehicle off the roadway in the area of Limestone Rd. west of Macarthur Dr.

Constable Steve Elms told insauga that police received a call around noon today for reports of a vehicle that had gone off the roadway and into a ravine and river.

Elms said the car flipped onto its roof and the lone female driver was trapped inside. The woman was rescued by police and removed from the vehicle.

The 35-year-old driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment, according to police.

The road remains closed at this time while officers continue the investigation, so police are advising drivers to use an alternate route.
