Lanes closed on Hwy. 401 as fire halts traffic through Mississauga, Milton

UPDATE: Westbound lanes on the highway are now open. The vehicle fire has been extinguished

A truck fire has shut down all westbound lanes of Hwy. 401 between Mississauga and Milton this afternoon (April 4).

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation says emergency crews are on the scene to battle the blaze which is happening in the HOV lanes of the highway.

Reports indicate the vehicle is located near James Snow Parkway.

Police are telling drivers to avoid the area.

Westbound traffic is now backing up well into Mississauga as drivers look for an alternate route.

There are no reports of injuries at this time.

Updates are expected later in the day.

Reports say the fire broke out just before 1 p.m.
