The afternoon rush hour in Hamilton and Burlington was complicated on Thursday by lane closures, which were caused by a collision.

Real-time Ontario Ministry of Transportation data shows that the two leftmost lanes on the Fort Erie-bound Queen Elizabeth Way highway are closed at Nikola Tesla Boulevard. A third lane was closed a few minutes later.

Typically, the length of a closure is dependent on a number of variables, such as the number of vehicles involved and injuries to any drivers or passengers.

Update: all lanes reopened around 5:30 p.m., after about 80 minutes.

Hamilton Fire Department crews were also sent to the scene, based on HFD’s automated Twitter feed.

Nikola Tesla is close to the municipal border between Hamilton and Burlington.
