IKEA Design Studio permanently closed in Square One in Mississauga

Mississauga’s first small-format IKEA store has closed its Square One location.

The store, which allowed customers to consult with experts on how to furnish a room, opened in late 2021.

The closure, though perhaps disappointing to some, was not entirely unexpected, as IKEA only keeps its Design Studio stores open for 12 to 18 months at a time.

The store, which was much smaller than a traditional IKEA outlet, allowed shoppers to design and order complex home furnishing systems for the kitchen, bath, bedroom and living room by scheduling planning sessions with a trained IKEA design expert.

Customers could then have items delivered to their homes.

An IKEA Design Studio store also opened at Bramalea City Centre in Brampton in 2021.
