Golf Canada to leave Oakville’s Glen Abbey for new home in Caledon

Golf Canada is moving out of its Oakville headquarters to a new home near Toronto.
The country’s governing body announced Wednesday it’s moving from its longtime home at Glenn Abbey Golf Course to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley located in Caledon.
The National Sport Federation will not only relocate its head office and Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum, but plans will also include the new home for First Tee – a publicly accessible community putting green and an indoor training facility.
Also on the move are Golf Ontario and the Club Management Association of Canada, which have also committed to relocate their headquarters in the new 34,000 square foot campus.
“Our vision to be a world leader in golf contemplates more than just a physical building – culture, collaboration, and innovation are critical elements,” said Golf Canada CEO Laurence Applebaum in a media release.
“Establishing a new headquarters and a Canadian golf campus with our partners to meet, play, train, plan, celebrate and collaborate, represents a transformative moment to advance the sport.”

Phase one of the Home for Canadian Golf project – which will cost $20 million and include the corporate headquarters, a reinvigoration of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame and Museum, and a 30,000 square foot community putting green inspired by the Himalayas Putting Course in St. Andrews – will break ground in 2023 with an expected completion by 2025.
Phase two of development is expected to cost $10 million and will only go ahead with successful fundraising campaigns supported by the Golf Canada Foundation and private donors as well as through naming rights, contributions from industry partners, and government support.
Osprey Valley is a renowned 54-hole golf facility in Peel Region. The property is currently undergoing a significant privately funded expansion and commercial development that includes the construction of new clubhouse and conference amenities as well as improvements to the practice facility and hosting facilities onsite.

Golf Canada has been located at Glen Abbey in Oakville since 1975.
The local club’s owner, ClubLink, had planned over the last few years to build homes and commercial buildings on the property, but eventually withdrew its plans after a lengthy battle with the Town of Oakville and local residents.
