Jan 16 Weather: It will feel like -27 and strong winds persist in southern Ontario

Residents should prepare for some extremely cold weather that’s expected to hit the region, including Mississauga, Brampton, Caledon, Milton and Halton Hills.

The forecast is calling for a period of very cold wind chills starting tonight (Feb. 13) into Monday morning.

Wind chill values near -30 degrees Celsius are expected.

Residents should dress warmly in multiple layers and watch for cold-related symptoms: Shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Temperatures will be closer to seasonal for the rest of the week, with Wednesday projected to be warmer than average.

Flurries are expected tonight and throughout the day on Monday, with rain on Wednesday and more snow on Thursday and Friday.
